Turmeric Ginger Lemonade RecipeDec 18, 2023
Ever notice, at holiday get togethers, everybody seems to be knocking back cocktails?
In truth, even though I no longer drink, it's a challenge for me to avoid alcohol during this time of year.
Sometimes it feels weird to be at a party drinking water when everyone else is, to quote the philosopher Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., "sippin' on gin and juice."
So, for times when you are tired of water, try this delicious booze-free concoction.
(Okay, it may be an acquired taste.)
Turmeric Ginger Lemonade Recipe
- 4 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (or a 3-inch strip fresh turmeric root, peeled)
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder (or a 4-inch strip fresh ginger root, peeled)
- Juice of a full lemon or to your taste
Put water into a small pot and bring to a boil on the stove.
Make sure that the water has come to a full boil.
Add turmeric and ginger to the boiling water and reduce to simmer for 8-to-10 minutes.
This will extract the beneficial compounds form the turmeric and ginger.
Remove the pot from the stove.
Strain the tea into a cup through a fine-mesh strainer to filter out the particles of turmeric and ginger.
Add lemon juice to taste.
The problem with most beverages is that they are full of sugar as well as lots of empty calories that provide zero nutritional value to your body.
Imagine that a calorie-dense drink is like eating a turkey sandwich with cheese.
This is a good analogy because they both have about 300 calories.
Now, it's pretty easy to drink 3-4 calorie-dense beverages at a party...
...but it would be really odd to eat 3-4 turkey-and-cheese sandwiches over the same time.
Since turmeric contains anti-inflammatory properties, and ginger is awesome for digestion, feel free to enjoy 1-2 cups of this lemonade daily.
Almost daily, I’m asked about how someone can lose weight.
“How can I drop a dress size?”
“How can I lose inches from my belly?”
“How can I get my bodyfat out of the 'obese' range?”
Do you know what the best answer is at least half of the time?
“Do more of what worked for you in the past.”
But let me be a little more specific.
It might actually go like this:
“How did you lose inches from your belly last time? What two things worked the best?”
“OK…how can you do more of those? How can you improve on them?"
I told you…too simple. But simple works if you do it.
Now notice that I didn’t suggest to do the exact same thing as the they’d done previously?
“How can you do more of those? How can you improve on them?”
You’re always going to have to evolve.
But if something is working, do more if it.
Find a way to do something a degree or two differently.
Don’t completely overhaul things when they’re going well… build on them.
If you’ve invested the time and resources to get healthy… leverage it for all it’s worth.
Success doesn’t have to be as hard as many over-40 men and women often make it.
And following this approach is one way to make things a lot easier.
Have a great day,
